For its latest collection, Canvas presents an ode to seasonless uniform dressing, however furnished with a contemporary spin.
For tops, classic women’s wear staples such as tailored long sleeved shirts are made fresh with asymmetric high-low hems, t-shirts are reinvented with mock turtle neck necklines and zip collars, basic sleeveless shirts are drenched in unexpected colors such as saffron and coral, 70s style safari shirts are reimagined in luxurious jewel tones, ordinary office blouses are transformed into kimono-cut wrap tops with oversized bows and typically hard-edged tailored blazers are softened in delightful shades of peach and olive.
Dresses take the forefront of Canvas’ new offering. Traditional silhouettes are elevated to trendy musthaves: wrap dresses are made to traverse from day to night as tuxedo-style numbers in wine red and black, the always chic coat dress is modernized in an autumnal shade of burnt orange, romantic smock dresses are juxtaposed in masculine blue stripes and the T-shirt dress is reimagined in midilength and furnished with off-the-moment Western detailing.
One of the focal point of this season’s collection is the use of linen. An appropriate fabric for our type of weather, lightweight and cool linen with subtle geometric patterns is used in Japanese-style dresses that feature distinctive skirt overlays and in 50s style ladylike peplum tops.
Also fabricated in linen but this time in solid blush, slate blue and olive, jumpsuits are made contemporary with utilitarian touches such as cargo pockets and karate belts.
For the working woman, Canvas also proposes a modernist office appropriate wardrobe. Instead of the typical work suit combo, why not explore by way of a tailored vest and culottes set in a soft peach color? For the faint of heart, the same combination is offered in pristine white.
Canvas is exclusively sold at Chimes Boutiques.
